There’s nothing new about distressed denim shorts for the summer. Year on year they come back on trend. What I find a little unnerving as a mother of 11 and 9 year old girls is that on a recent shopping trip, we all wanted the same (or almost the same) pair of denim shorts to add to our summer wardrobe.
Both my girls love fashion, in fact my 11 year old plans her outfits with precision using Pinterest boards! So I often have to be careful we are not trying to dress like triplets!
Luckily for me, their denim look consists of cropped tops and midriff, I won’t be going for that look…
I love the use of a denim short in high low dressing, upscaling it with blazers or crisp white shirts to give them a preppy feel. A trainer, slide or backless brogue works well for day with this look and a heel works equally well at night. Here’s a few ways I’ve styled my distressed jean shorts.
